"This two and one half miles of railroad track with tunnels No. 45, 46, 47, 48 and the big bridge across the creek was considered the costliest piece of grade on the railroad. A high bridge across the canyon in the foreground could have eliminated all this costly construction and maintenance and such a bridge was contemplated, but steel for the structure was unobtainable...

Margaret Smith, Edith Eidem, and Delia Bridget O'Callaghan, three WW II ex-Wacs, bought the Ranch in February 1947 from Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stewart. They operated the 300-acre ranch as a dude ranch. There was a thirty-two room ranch house that they cleaned up and then they added cabins and worked fields.
Gene Godat worked as their hunting guide for tourists. Gene and Fawntella Godat owned the Hilltop Dude Ranch in Sweetwater...

Bob Shelton was not just the first certified medical technician in this valley, he also served as the Mayor of Eagle and a town trustee for several years. Bob and Shirley (Wilson) married on September 7, 1947 and were married 65 years.
