Hollis "Holly" Kelloway Brooks came to Eagle County from Minnesota, settling first in McCoy and then operating a general store in Edwards. From 1926 to 1929, he was the County treasurer. In 1931 and through the 1940s, he owned and operated the Bar X Ranch (formerly the Castle Peak Ranch) in Eagle.

Shared marker for: "Schlegel, Mary E. (Handley), Apr. 6, 1932--May 9, 2008; Rancher, Wesley H., Feb. 8, 1927--Feb. 27, 2002," in the McCoy Cemetery. A mountain scene with river, pines, columbines, hummingbird, elk and riderless horse is engraved on the marker. The family brand is engraved at center bottom.
49) Catamount Bridge

The bridge, built in 1909 stood up well until 1951 when a loaded soft drink truck found a weak place and broke through. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the bridge was out about ten days." -- McCoy Memoirs p.18
