22) McCoy Hotel

"A look at the McCoy Hotel from the west bank of Rock Creek in 1916. If the bridge was only able to talk, think of the many interesting stories it could tell about the many travelers that passed over it between Wolcott and Routt County. Flood waters took it out twice, in 1952 when the King Mountain Reservoir dam gave way and again when high water took it out in 1962. After that it was never replaced." -- McCoy Memoirs, p.95.

"This bunkhouse is all that remains of a good set of ranch buildings that were on the Dave Bailey place at the mouth of Yarmony Creek. The two story log house that Dave and his wife Molly lived in for over twenty years and Tony and Rebecca Johannbroer occupied for another twenty was destroyed by fire about 1937. -- McCoy Memoirs p.134

The Bar-Gay Ranch was originally the Hawley place. Gaylord and Barbara Clark bought the house and outbuildings; the land was a school section which they leased for 99 years.

The Derby Mesa Schoolhouse, Burns, Colorado, in 1980, being used as a private residence. The front of the school has had an addition at the front door with a roof overhang. The house number reads 13060. Gaylord Clark taught in this school from 1933-1935.

"Thomas Knight was born near French Lick, Ind. May 28, 1886 and completed his education at Central Normal College, Ill. He first came to Colorado with his parents and brother, Robert in 1908. ... Post office at Tigiwon, Colorado. Located on the way to Notch Mountain trail, it was used to postmark letters for people on pilgrimage to view the Mt. of the Holy Cross. The Post office was established June 5, 1929 and discontinued September 30, 1942 [from Colorado Post Offices 1859-1989, by Bauer, Osment and Willard, 1990].
