"These hunters were camped on Black Creek, ten miles north-east of McCoy in 1912. They are: Rudolph Ebert, Carl Schrupp, Ernest Werner and Fritz Arendt. The photo by Martin Schomers. At that date, it's doubtful if any one of the group possessed a hunting license. "Earl and Hollis Brooks both loved baseball and one of the first things they did after coming to McCoy was to organize a baseball team from local talent. They whipped up a good team in no time and played other small towns. ...
